🏆 The Good :

I’m not sure if you all are aware, but I’m obsessed with Fred’s regular cheese steak. I have literally no reason to order anything else. However, I decided to branch out one day, and I am SO GLAD I did. Fred’s sautées your meat of choice (chicken or steak, I went with chicken) in my new favorite Asian-inspired hot sauce, gochujang. Sorry, Sriracha, you’ve definitely been replaced. To me, gochujang has more depth of flavor than sriracha. It’s sweet, spicy, tangy, and has a great balance of flavors. Also appearing on this cheese steak are candied jalapenos, green onion, garlic aioli, and TONS of creamy white American cheese. White american is the ONLY choice for me when it comes to a cheese steak. Say what you want about this processed cheese, but it has this stick-to-your-ribs, perfectly melt-y quality that is perfect for wrapping itself around caramelized meat. The garlic aioli adds another layer of flavor and creaminess, the green onion adds a wonderful breath of fresh air, and the candied jalapenos really take this sandwich over the top, adding a touch of acid and sweetness, and another layer of spice. All that deliciousness is placed inside a perfectly flaky and chewy TGM Bread hoagie.

🚫 The Not so good :

I guess, if anything, this cheese steak can actually be too spicy for me. I don’t mind the heat in the first few bites, but half-way through the sandwich I need to take a break, or take the jalapenos off. Granted, I don’t handle spice well. So, if you’re like me, fair warning. If you love spice, it won’t be a problem for you.
