🏆 The Good :
When I say that this is some of the best meat I’ve ever put into my mouth, I mean it. The platter shown has several meats on it; schnitzel, sausage, sauerbraten, and, of course, the schweinshaxe. Forget the huge platter, the sheer size of the shank when it hits the table is enough to make your mouth drop open. It’s a damn meat centerpiece. They roast the pork shank on a rotisserie with salt, pepper and beer, of course. I am a huge fan of simple seasonings, especially on meats, because it allows you to taste the flavor of the actual meat the most. This meat is so incredibly tender and full of porky flavor. My favorite part though is the skin… the ridiculously crispy skin that’s been bathed in beer. Hell, you could serve me a basket of that skin and I would be completely satisfied. The succulent meat is just an added bonus. And just to take it over the edge, the pork jus is served on the side for dipping. Meat sweats are inevitable. MAJOR DROOL.
🚫 The Not so good :
The only thing I’ll say I don’t like about this dish is that some parts of it are a bit fatty. Granted, this is a fatty piece of meat, but I did have to cut several chunks off lest I want to gnaw on straight fat. A small price to pay for this meaty prize.
